About Muverang

Muverang derives from the Sura-Celsia-Bancolombia partnership as a sustainable mobility solution aiming to contribute to the well-being of people, companies, and the environment.

Through Muverang, people and companies have access to electric scooters, bikes, cars, or motorcycles, thus reducing CO2 emissions and decongesting roadways in the cities where it operates.

Muverang offers three business models:

  • Muverang Impulsa: A monthly subscription model for people to use the electric vehicle of their choice, with no minimum commitment.

  • Muverang Activa: An electric mobility system that can be shared or assigned to employees according to their role for use when commuting or performing commercial or service functions.

  • Muverang Conecta: A technological platform that integrates all the mobility alternatives that the employees of a company have, such as taxis, special services, or own vehicles. It offers the possibility of carpooling and creating operational and economic efficiencies. The employee has all the transportation options in a single application and the company has all the information needed for decision-making in one place.

What was the challenge?

Sura, Celsia, and Bancolombia decided to rise to a new challenge, different from, but leveraging, their core businesses to create great value for people, companies, and cities. Thus, Muverang was born as a set of solutions around everyday mobility whose chief premises are sustainability, electric mobility, and the use of technology for better decision-making.  This challenge required very good technological bases from the beginning, including the development of end-user applications, a web page for self-managing user subscriptions, and web access for business customers and the administrative / operational team. The solution should also provide the best customer experience with the least possible friction and the best usability.

How did we do it?

Pragma formed a team of 17 people for the project. We work under the agile Scrum framework, with cloud deployment in Amazon Web Services, to improve delivery times and offer better quality in the final product. The team is made up of pragmatists with various skills:

  • Development services: We supported the development of the three initiatives comprising the project at the level of Frontend, Mobile App, Backend, IoT, and integrations with platforms and collection schemes.
  • Architecture: We took part in architecture definitions and implementation under the guidelines of the project architects and the three companies
  • Kappa infrastructure: We created and provisioned the project’s entire Cloud infrastructure on AWS, and then migrated it to the Bancolombia cloud on AWS.
  • UX/UI: We participated in the design of the end-to-end experience, specifically from the UX front.
  • DevOps: We created, together with architecture and Kappa, the project’s DevOps strategy to ensure security in software development.

The project started on February 10, 2020. Impulsa Development began in May, while the user transactional gateway was launched in June. The user version of Conecta was launched in August. The first production versions of Activa were released in March; this solution begins operation with users in October.

Results

Initially, Muverang would be available only for Medellín; however, due to the great impact and reception, the initiative has been already introduced in Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali.

Besides, the project’s policy is to ensure efficient service provision and continuous improvements that cater to customer needs. Pragma continues to work hand in hand with Muverang to create value for the initiative, the business, and end users.

Muverang wishes to establish itself as a mobility solution in Colombia that adds to the sustainable development of cities, business, competitiveness, and user well-being.
